BUSES
Bernera is served by a local, friendly, minibus service which operates daily to Stornoway (except on Sundays). There are two morning buses to Stornoway, one at lunchtime and a late afternoon/early evening service. The last bus returning from Stornoway to Bernera is 6pm. It is worth studying the bus timetable before planning your journey as it can be a little complicated. Some of the stops and times are request services only, others can be affected by public/school holidays at various times of the year; and a change of bus may be required part way through the journey. In the case of a request stop, you will need to call Maciver Buses on 01851 643218 and leave a message for the driver who picks up the message on their shift. (Please note, the driver will not call you back to confirm the request. This may feel a bit disconcerting, but the call know that the call has been logged. A copy of the Bernera/Uig and other timetables can be collected for free from the bus station in Stornoway, or viewed online at https://bustimes.org/services/w3-mmi-stornoway-bernera For journeys to other parts of the island, you will have to check the appropriate timetables to find connections.
