Two community polls were carried out in 2021 to first identify and then vote on ideas for the Hatchery. As part of the preparation for a Business Plan, a more detailed community survey was carried out by GBCDT and Community Enterprise in October and November 2022.

The results of the two polls and community outreach day at the Community Hall and extesive rersearch including interviews with key stakeholders led to the following Business plan which was passed on to the Scottish Land Fund as part of a Stage 2 application for funding to purchase the building.
